I update this occationally
Here some accessory ideas for different scenarios depending where you live and what you wanna prepare yourself against. I own some of the stuff here myself, if i linked products i thought they are worth looking into it. Feel free to contact me for more ideas.
Some of the Items here can be pretty expensive because i picked fairly high quality products. You, of cause, do NOT need to buy those. They are just there as examples or personal recommendations from my side.
This is a place you pick and should be secret. That location is a place where you go to when everything goes to shit and you can't stay at your current place. It should have at least some Food and Water supplies (maybe also some backup stashes with loot around).
To reach this place 'Prepper' often have a so-called "Bug-out backpack" which holds stuff for 72h, to be able to bridge the time till you reach your Bug-out location (Don't forget, travel light!).
'Preppers' also don't like to leave a chance of failure to get there, so there is a "3 way rule" in place, where you work out 3 different ways and routes to reach your location. Also actually try the routes and see if they work out well + do keep yourself fit to be able to reach it (e.g. by foot).
In general browsing the Berghaus and Tasmanian Tiger stuff can be pretty useful, this is gear for professional use.
Some sort of 'rain poncho' for the backpack can come in pretty handy too.
3M 6000 or Sundstrom SR 200 with Scott Safety Pro2000 or two 3M 6099 Filter.
For communications with the respirator mask on you could use a 3M Scott EPIC 3 RI Voice Communication System. This is cool but unlikely needed. Additionally a Chemical Suit [1, 2, 3].
Don't forget extra batteries and charger (In best case you can charge via USB on some solar-powerbank, i got myself some iEGrow 18650
charger, couldn't really find a link, sry)
Consider a Flashlight with mutliple brightness modes for various reasons (saving battery, don't reveal your position too easy) or some flashlights with red/green light.
Consider having at least a bit of cash at home, in case you need to leave everything behind or the digital infrastructure collapses or similar events.
In some countries there are law's for a cash limit, i think in Germany you are only allowed to have 10.000€ in cash, so please do some research into that before hording money at home.
As example i want to show you this.
This happend in the time of Russia attacking Ukraine and some diplomat fled with a lot of cash, which got them arrested.
Consider alternatives like cryptocurrencies, they allow you to transport unlimited money accross borders or basically anywhere with only remembering 24 words or having some file/device which stores the seedphrase. If done properly no one could ever find out that you ever owned/own cryptocurrency.
Have Encrypted (e.g. VeraCrypt, KeePassXC) Backups of your important data! (Whatever it is, pictures of your loved ones, your drivers license, birth cert, your Crypto wallet, [...]). You can easily keep it up to date by picking a day in the month to update your backup. Good storage mediums are USB-Sticks or external m.2 NVMe drives for larger storage (alternatively also encrypted cloud drives in different countries).
This should always be the last option, try escaping the situtaion first!
I personally have a Zoraki 906
, it's a very small handgun with a 6+1 magazin. You can carry it with a license and a civil belly holster around. Alternatively you can use irritant gas amunition.
Again, this should never be used in the best case, i advertise against it!
P.S. Always remember to run faster than the Zombies
